FREE Spay/Neuter Grant Program for Dogs and Cats
The Maryland Department of Agriculture has provided the Humane Society of Charles County with funds to assist local area residents with FREE Spay/Neuters for their family pets. Income requirements apply.
By having your dog or cat sterilized, you are doing good in so many ways:
- You prevent the birth of unwanted puppies and kittens, many of which eventually wind up in our shelter.
- Spaying and neutering can also reduce behavioral problems associated with the mating instinct.
- Spaying female pets eliminates heat cycles and generally reduces the unwanted behaviors that may lead to owner frustration.
- Neutering male pets reduces the breeding instinct and can have a calming effect, making them less inclined to roam and more content to stay at home.
Along with the spay/neuter, your pet will also receive the rabies vaccination at no charge.
If you have a household income of less the $75,000.00, and live in Waldorf, Brandywine, White Plains, LaPlata, or Indian Head, you can qualify and be provided a FREE spay or neuter for your pet to help reduce the overpopulation of animals in our shelters.
To qualify you must live within the 20601, 20602, 20603, 20613, 20640, 20646 or 20695 zip codes and be able to provide proof of annual household income less than $75,000. The surgeries must be performed at the Humane Society of Charles County, and you will need to receive a voucher prior to scheduling surgery.
