Dear Friends, Supporters, Volunteers, Adopters, and Animal Advocates,
My name is Dr. Lisa Connors, and I am honored to begin serving as President of the Humane Society of Charles County, effective June 4, 2026.
As we move forward together, I want to thank our community for its passion, advocacy, and commitment to animal welfare. The care and concern that so many people have shown for the animals we serve demonstrates just how important this organization is to Charles County.
As a longtime advocate for animals and our community, I am committed to listening, learning, and working together to ensure that the Humane Society of Charles County fulfills its mission with compassion, transparency, accountability, and integrity.
Our mission remains clear: to provide compassionate care for animals, promote responsible pet ownership, support adoption and rescue efforts, and serve as a trusted resource for our community. Every decision we make will be guided by that mission and by our commitment to the animals who depend on us.
This is an opportunity for a fresh start and a renewed focus on what brings us together—our shared commitment to animal welfare. We will work to strengthen relationships with our volunteers, adopters, foster families, donors, community partners, and residents throughout Charles County. Together, we can build a stronger organization and a brighter future for the animals in our care.
In the coming weeks, we will share more information about our goals, initiatives, and opportunities for community involvement. I also invite you to stay tuned for an upcoming Meet & Greet event with our Board of Directors. This gathering will provide an opportunity to meet the leadership team, ask questions, share ideas, and learn more about our vision for the future.
Thank you for your continued support, trust, and dedication to animal welfare. I look forward to working alongside all of you as we begin this new chapter together.
With gratitude,
Dr. Lisa Connors
President
Humane Society of Charles County
