HSCC Volunteering:

Our volunteers provide all the “extras” that we need to keep our animals happy and our shelter humming.  Never afraid to roll up their sleeves and tackle a new task, the HSCC’s dedicated volunteers pitch in when and where they are needed most, sometimes at high-profile events and sometimes folding the mountains of laundry generated every day. Every task is important, and we sincerely appreciate every volunteer hour.  If you are passionate about animals, we welcome ages 6* and up to become a volunteer.  Volunteering at the HSCC is a two-way street. Volunteers give their time and talent and receive the love and affection of hundreds of animals (and humans!) in return.

The HSCC Volunteer Process:

If you are passionate about animals, we welcome people ages 6 and over to become volunteers. Volunteers under the age of 16, must be accompanied by a person over the age of 18 years of age.  Waivers and areas of interest are addressed at the orientation.

Orientations are held every 8 weeks, in-person at our shelter.

The upcoming dates for 2024 are:
Saturday May 18th , Saturday July 20th , Saturday September 21st , Saturday November 16th . All orientations begin at 9:30 a.m.
Thank you for considering supporting the Humane Society of Charles County. Our Volunteers provide that “extra” support we need to keep our animals safe and happy.

Tasks include helping with fundraising events, folding mounds of laundry generated each day, dog walking, socialization with the animals, helping with landscaping and yard work are just some of the vital tasks that help us continue to provide a safe place for unwanted and stray animals. Additional training is required if you are considering being a dog walker. That training occurs following each volunteer orientation.

If you have any questions and/or are interested, please email info@humanesocietycc.org.

At this time we are switching our volunteer tracking software. You will no longer have access to Volgistics. We will have our brand new volunteer site up as soon as possible. We are in the process of onboarding. We thank you for your compassion and support!
