Board your pets with us for a worry-free vacation! 

We provide dog, cat, and small pet boarding services.  Give yourself peace of mind by knowing that your pets are safe and secure boarding with the Humane Society of Charles County.  Our promise to you — your pet(s) will be safe and well taken care of!  We want you to feel comfortable that your pet receives the best care while you are away.

Reservations are required and your pet must be current on all recommended vaccines for dogs and cats, including distemper, rabies, and Bordetella (dogs). Bring your vaccination receipt or travel health certificate.

The following boarding information is provided for informational purposes only. Please discuss and ask any questions when making your reservation or at the time of drop-off.

Boarding Costs: The rates per day are as follows:

New boarding rates starting August 1st 2024. 

Dogs up to 50lbs are $32.00 per night 

Dogs over 51lbs are $35.00 per night 

Cats are $20.00 per night 

Small animals - Rabbits/ guinea pigs/ferrets are $12.00 per night

 

Boarding Deposit: A deposit of 50% of the total boarding charges is due when the reservation is made.  Deposits are non-refundable. Just make an appointment, drop them off, and pay by cash, check, or credit card.

Multi-Pet Discount:  If you have more than one dog, you’ll get $2 off on the second dog’s boarding rate! Ask us about our long-term stay discount! And if your pet stays with us, feel free to call or email us any time.

Boarding Cancelation Policy: If you must cancel your boarding reservation, please call or email to cancel your reservation immediately when your travel plans change. We ask that you let us know at least 48 hours prior to your reservation. Remember that our boarding facility has limited space and is frequently at 100% occupancy. Boarding Drop-Off Times: During normal business hours (please see below), the drop-off times are 12:00 pm-5:00 pm

Shelter Business Hours: 

Sunday 12:00pm-4:00pm

Monday  CLOSED

Tuesday-Saturday 12:00pm-6:00pm

 

Proof of Vaccinations for Boarding **Please Note the Required Vaccines** 

Dogs must be current on distemper (DHPP), Rabies and Bordetella at least 1 week prior to stay. 

 Cats must be current on distemper and rabies. • Ferrets must be current on rabies. • Proof of vaccines must be presented at the time the reservation is scheduled.

During Your Pets’ Boarding Stay:

Mealtimes during Boarding: Food- Please bring your pet’s own food pre-packaged and labeled with your pet’s first and last name. You will be asked to provide feeding instructions to ensure we are feeding your pet’s exact diet. They will be fed around 9 AM and again around 4 PM. Treats- We offer MILK BONES as treats, or you may bring your own treats labeled with your pet’s name and instructions on how much to give. Pig ears and rawhide treats are not permitted.

Medications:  We will administer any prescriptions your pet may need during their stay. Please keep in mind that we are here from 8 AM-6 PM and cannot administer medication before or after those times. Medications should be in the original container, indicating the pet’s name, medication name, dosage, and prescribing veterinarian. We won't use force or restraint to administer your pet's medication

Pet Bedding & Toys:  Blankets, elevated beds, and toys, food/water bowls, and litter pans(cats) are provided. If you prefer to bring your own blankets and toys, they should be labeled with your pet’s first and last name. We will do the best we can to return your pet’s items however we cannot guarantee the return of these items. HSCC is not responsible for any misplaced, damaged, or destroyed items left with us.

Small Animals- They need to be brought in their own enclosures that meet the minimum care requirements. We do not supply cages for public boarding.

Veterinary Care & Grooming during Boarding: If your pet should need emergency medical attention HSCC will do its best to contact you or your emergency contact in the event you cannot be reached prior to treatment. HSCC reserves the right to have our onsite Veterinarian examine and treat or transport the animal to a veterinarian of its choice and/or administer medicine and/or give other advisable attention within HSCC’s reasonable and sole discretion and judgment at the owner’s expense. Flea Treatments - We reserve the right to bathe your pet and/or treat it for fleas (at the owner's expense) should we feel it necessary.

Things to Remember:

Observed Holidays: The Humane Society of Charles County (HSCC) is closed on the following holidays.  New Year’s Day • Easter Sunday • Memorial Day • Independence Day • Labor Day • Thanksgiving • Christmas Day

Peak Boarding Times: Holidays and the Spring/Summer season (April- August) are extremely busy so our limited spots fill quickly. Remember, you must make a reservation, so submit a boarding request to our staff as soon as you know of your travel plans. Boarding Pets with Special Needs: We understand that some pets require special attention, and we are happy to accommodate them in most cases. You must make us aware of any special needs at the time of reservation so that we can discuss if and how we can accommodate them. Please note that we do not offer 24-hour care.

Post Boarding Information (Picking Up Your Pet)

Boarding Pick-Up Times: During normal business hours, the pick-up times are 12:00 pm-5:00 pm

Boarding Payment (At time of pick up): The remainder of the payment is due in full at the time of pick up. We accept cash, checks, or most debit/credit cards. There is a returned check fee of $15 for all returned checks. You will be charged for the day of drop off and day of pick up regardless of the time. 50% deposit is required at the time the reservation is confirmed. If it is not received, then you will lose your spot. We do payment virtually through a link that is sent by our system. ● NO refunds

NO delayed drop-off or early pick-up. ***** PETS WILL ONLY BE RELEASED TO OWNERS ***** -- unless prior arrangements have been discussed and noted at the time of pet drop-off.
