Free Family & Furry Friends, Food & Fun Fall Farm Festival
This event is a "non-scary" autumn activity to present fun crafts, tasty treats, and connection to the harvest season while enjoying the outdoors for our community. Just a few days before Thanksgiving, this family friendly event will stress kindness, gratitude, and connection with the environment. Edible organic pumpkins will be provided along with recipes for roasting seeds, cooking the pumpkin into pies, soup, muffins, or pet friendly (excellent for dogs & cats) snacks. There will be nature crafts such as pine cone turkeys, native vine wreath making, feather bead & leather craft, and a supervised campfire for making s'mores. Activities will be led by volunteers, Scouts and 4-H members. Charles County UMD Extension Master Gardeners will have a table to help guide families to wildlife / pollinator- friendly fall gardening practices. Adoptable pets will be available for live pet "meet & greet" interaction & cuddling from our local "no-kill" rescue shelter. Homeschool students will assist with games & activities with a straw bale photo booth. There will be friendly goats & a live turkey for petting. Participants will be encouraged to support several local non-profits as we connect & work together. since this is an outdoor event, raindate will be November 23.
